HOW TO PREVENT KNEE INJURIES
Whether you’re new to the game or you’ve been playing for many years, one thing you have to be aware of is the risk of knee injuries. While it is a no contact sport, there is a very high incidence of knee injuries.
Not only do you expose your knees to excessive jumping, but also to twisting, contact with other team members. Knee injuries can result in chronic pain, if the injury doesn’t heal right.
Knee pads are protective gear from impact injury when you fall on the court by kneeling or diving to hit the ball. You can choose to wear thick knee pads for maximum protection or thin ones without side padding for better movements. They should be snug, so they won’t slide off but not make you uncomfortable and cut-off your circulation.
TO WEAR OR NOT TO WEAR?
There has been a debate among some volleyball players; to wear or not to wear volleyball knee pads, while many argue that wearing knee pads is more of a hindrance and they can make a player develop bad habits. However, with the proper coaching bad habits can be broken and knee pads that fit properly should not be a hindrance,
With volleyball knee pads, it doesn’t matter if you’re an avid, seasoned volleyball player or someone who is just starting out, protecting your knees should be one of your top priorities.
You need to be proactive and take care of your body now, and it all starts with wearing the proper protective gear, like quality volleyball knee pads …every time you play.
